Marriage is for mature people. It is not merely a romantic relationship. With marriage, the man becomes a father and the lady a mother. However, there is more to being a father or a mother than just begetting children. If you desire to ascend this noble position of fatherhood or motherhood as the case may be, you need to have acquired the necessary maturity and discipline, which include – social, intellectual, emotional, psychological, and spiritual maturity.
SOCIAL MATURITY ÷ This has to do with being able to relate with others in a responsible and selfless way without thinking exclusively of personal needs and desires.
EMOTIONAL MATURITY ÷ This is the ability to control your passions and emotions. That is avoiding giving in easily and deeply to bad moods especially anger, and being ready to talk things over. It also involves being able to control sexual urges before or after marriage, having sexual relationship with none else except your spouse.
INTELLECTUAL MATURITY ÷ This has to do with the ability to understand the problems, challenges and situations of life and capacity to formulate ideas as well as proffer solutions to them without wholly depending on others.
PSYCOLOGICAL MATURITY ÷ This implies that your mind and decomposition are sound enough for marriage. That is, you do not have any phobia for marriage, probably developed out of past painful experiences.
SPIRITUAL MATURITY ÷ This has to do with having a good relationship with your God.
